Metabolism with Selenium

Losing weight still seems to be the goal for many people, as we go through the business of the day. It tends to be easy for the few and a great hassle for others.
There is general knowledge that your thyroid gland serves as a thermostat for your metabolism. It has a direct impact on how fast and how efficiently your body burns excess fat. By far the most active of your thyroid hormones is called T3. However your body can't manufacture enough T3 unless it has sufficient selenium. Many people are chronically deficient in this important nutrient.
Mannatech's Optimal Health Products do contain selenium and can be the perfect platform for a lifetime glyconutrient wellness program.
There are a few simple steps you can make to start losing that weight. Research indicates that your body's metabolic rate increases by about 10% after you eat a meal or snack. Now there's evidence that as little as five minutes of moderate exercise (like walking) can help double that metabolic boost. By exercising after eating, you actually pull more oxygen into your body. In a sense, that helps your food burn hotter - with fewer calories being available for fat storage.
That sounds like a wonderful tip and easily achieved.
Cells communicate to satisfy a range of critical life needs including nutrition, inner cleansing and support for our bodies during movement and exercise. Sam Caster, founder of Mannatech, the leader in glyconutrients, gives support for the immune system facilitating cell-to-cell communication. Their formulation of antioxidants and glyconutrients helps underpin our bodies' natural ability to protect against oxidative stress.

Overactive Immune Disorders

From 'Miracle Sugars' by Rita Elkins M.H. Asthma and Allergies: Misguided Inflammation
There are thousands of papers demonstrating glyconutritional immune system support. Asthma and allergies: misguided inflammation:
Inflammation is nature's way of protecting us from infection. For example, when that pesky sliver gets under your skin, macrophages and other white blood cells rush to the site to fight the alien invader. As a result, the area becomes red, swollen, and tender until the rescue operation is complete.
Sometimes the inflammatory response command is issued when it shouldn't be. Asthma and most allergies deal with exaggerated inflammatory responses. In asthma, irritation causes the bronchial tubes in the lungs to constrict and eventually breakdown. Allergies occur when immune cells mistake a substance like pollen for a foreign invader. In this case, the inflammatory process causes histamine to be released from mast cells, causing congestion, itching, sneezing, etc. Typically, antihistamine drugs are used to inhibit this response. Interestingly, one of the essential eight sugars(required in our body) does the same thing.
Researchers belonging to the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kuamamoto University, Japan, discovered that the sugar called N-acetyl-neuraminic acid blocked the releases of histamine, the culprit chemical in allergic reactions.
Concerning these studies, the Lefkowitz research team of the University of South Florida says, "Taken in their entirety, the above studies suggest that glyconutrients, because of their saccharide composition, may represent a new approach to inhibiting the inflammatory response. This is an area we believe definitely merits further research. Inhibiting inflammation would benefit numerous diseases including asthma." The possibilities for glyconutrient supplementation as a therapy for allergic and asthmatic inflammation are truly exciting.

Healthier Alternative

Valuable information from 'Miracle Sugars' by Rita Elkins M.H.
'Ancient medical practitioners knew what we have to re-learn today- that some plant compounds have a brain. In other words, glyconutrient supplements and other adaptogenic plant compounds can enter the body and act according to need and individual situation. They either stimulate reactions to heal when you are sick, or work in other pathways to prevent illness. Simply stated, they help the body ADAPT to its particular health challenge and environment. To put it another way- they initiate healing rather than just masking symptoms. NO prescription high-tech drug can do that.
Today, hundreds of millions of dollars are being spent by at least fifteen pharmaceutical companies researching the potential of carbohydrate drugs, vaccines, and delivery systems. Recent television commercials are even referring to future drugs that will be delivered directly to the diseased cells, leaving the healthy cells alone. Synthesizing the sugar communication code and coating the drug so it would then seek out only the diseased cells could accomplish this goal which would be an exceptional medical breakthrough. An article in the January 1993 edition of Scientific American states, "The day may not be far off when anti-adhesive drugs, possibly in the form of pills that are both sugar coded and sugar loaded, will be used to prevent and treat infections, inflammation, the consequences of heart attacks, and perhaps even cancer."
.....Remember, however, drugs don't cure diseases. Even with drugs - the body does the healing.'

Mannatech Inc.'s product PhytoMatrix contains vitamins and phytochemicals that have been absorbed by plant roots and stored in its tissue. When harvested these plants provide all natural ingredients. PhytoMatrix provides greater absorption of nutrients than other existing supplement technologies.

Check the Sweetest Addiction

Taken from Prevention Magazine Health Books
Walking the supermarket isles makes me very strong when it comes to the chocolate biscuits and sweets section, ok, sometimes. Quickly walking by is the best action I have decided as my weight increases when chocolate enters my home. To keep the fat cells in check, trying for good nutrition is always best!
'Can a woman actually be addicted to chocolate?
According to a study conducted in Scotland, self-described chocoholics do seem to have a few things in common with alcoholics and other bona fide addicts. Most say that their consumption is excessive and problematic. On the other hand, self-professed chocoholics don't seem to go through withdrawal when they're denied chocolate. So other experts say that they aren't truly addicted.
"I don't think that you can be addicted to chocolate, though you certainly can experience frequent cravings," Waterhouse, a nutritionist and author of Why Women Need Chocolate and Outsmarting the Female Fat Cell, we women yearn for chocolate when certain feel-good neurochemicals (drug-like substances released by our brains) are at low ebb in our bodies. As it turns out, levels of some of these neurochemicals wax and wane with levels of the female sex hormones oestrogen and progesterone, Waterhouse notes. That may explain why we crave chocolate more than men do, and why our chocolate cravings vary over our men ........ Eating chocolate, Waterhouse says, boosts levels of the necessary neurochemicals, improving our moods.'
Mannatech Inc.'s product OA contains antioxidants which support your body's natural ability to defend, protect and repair against stress and premature ageing. So, why not empower your body receive optimal health and well-being with glyconutrients.
